For a tank that size you could always just chuck the fish in a bowl for an hour or 2 while scrub the inside of the tank with HCl. Thats if you are worried about the stuff on the glass. You could flush your media with fresh water to try and wash some of that salt stuff off while you were at it...



What is HCI?

I tried running a few buckets of water over the media today, redirecting the drainage to another bucket. It only took a little bit of the salt off, I would need a hose or just more time to clean the whole thing. I believe it is coming from the stuff on the glass though. The tank was donated to me so it's possible it was a saltwater tank before I set it up.

Hydrocholoric Acid. It's quite cheap, and often used in pool systems to lower the pH. You can get it from most hardware stores.

Wear gloves when using though :think:
