This is my front porch barrel ponics system, it is my 1st system. I had a lot of fun building it, as well as a few headaches trying to get things just right. I believe after a few modifications and a couple times of moving the bed location, I found this is the best place for it, as I do not have a backyard or much of a front yard. I do not get a full day of sun, my bed does not see sun till about noon, but gets full sun till it goes down, which is about 7pm right now. the system is consists of a 60 gallon barrel, 54 gallon sump, and a 54 gallon bed. Ive just added 6 albino channel catfish 2 inch fingerlings, and 9 Goldfish. Please any comments or criticisms welcome. if you see anything thats just a plain stupid idea, please let me know. I am very new to the world of aquaponics but on discovering the united states food system and how things really work, I found this to be a wonderful solution to eating healthy and not breaking the bank shopping at WFM. Now I will end up breaking my bank to continue building these systems. I hope my 1st system is BYAP approved.

File comment: The sump, pumps to the bed as well as the tank. there is also an overflow drainage on the tank that drains back to the sump. the siphon from the bed also drains to the sump.

a few of my goldfish, the channel cats tend to stay on the bottom patrolling the barrel, making sure everything's ok. :D

File comment: i added a cap on the end of the input pipe, and drilled some holes in the cap which helps create more oxygen bubbles for the fish. notice the bubble cluster over the on goldfish, if you look close you can see the fish inside the bubble.
