Hi Cindy,
Reading about your pants not wanting to get taller.
I suggest you be sire to wash off all dirt before putting your plants in, otherwise the dirt holds water and things get rotten in the root ball. I just use a garden hose on pretty full. Seedling work really well. For tomatoes I use either heirloom seeds or else a Tomato on a root stock well washed off. Tomatoes are what aquaponics do best and as you are a seller of food, you will get top dollar because these Toms will taste fabulous.
Best wishes
J

I lose a bit of water in my little system due to a temporary NFT pipe I made and didn't silicone. The water drips a bit, and I also have a bit of evaporation.

My solution was to connect my duckweed tank to my fish tank with a no holes siphon (bit of pipe full of water), and just add tap water to my duckweed tank. This slowly breathes in and out as the FT level ebbs and flows so my water transfer is quite gentle. I add the water furthest away from the connection to the FT, so only a tiny amount of diluted chlorinated topup water would find its way into the fish tank before the chlorine turns into whatever chlorine turns into.

Hey all
I am going to get a IBC started here shortly, have to wait for all our farm animals to have their babies. I will incorporate the blue barrels into the IBC somehow, not sure how yet. I would like to get some towers going also. Have to figure out how to get the IBC thru a 36 inch greenhouse door. duhhh, GB probably gonna be a little deeper than I really want, but hey.
