I had problems with the old kitchen system. A lot of brown scum building up on everything. System looked very toxic. Chemistries where out of control. I think it was because of the aquarium gravel we had in the bottom. So I am changing my kitchen system over to a deep water culture because all gravel GB would be way to heavy for the planter cart. Also I had some concerns about the different kinds of plastic bottle caps in the GB ftp hold edible plants.

So I need help and opinions!

I still have to live with the gravel and fake plants in the fish tank

Will an under the gravel screen , aquarium type, work to help suck out the solids?

The FT pump will pump water up to an 18 gallon storage container. At this point I'm thinking a raft of styrofoam to hold the started vegitable plants. Also the GB should have a bubbler for air. From that DWC GB, water would flow by gravity thru a SLO thingy into a 4 inch tube NFT holding strawberry plants (25). Then by gravity, the water from the NFT tubes goes back into the FT.

I need ideas for a filter between the FT and the DWC GB.

Need lots of advice on the NFT stuff. Like how deep the water should be etc....?

Richard tells me that towers seem to do better. The boss say's we can't do the tower thing because it will block "the view" out the kitchen.

How big a bubbler and air stones?

Any ideas for a small float switch to prevent draining the FT.

Thanks in advance
