Hello everyone! Names Cody. Me and my buddy recently got into aquaponics due to the want to grow fresh veggies and not needing to rely on the "corporations" plus the fish are fun to watch and the running water is kinda zen lol.

Anyways, were starting out small until we get the hang of things than going bigger. This is our very first kitchen top system that we recently added gold fish and decorations to. The pics are a few weeks old and were taken during our cycling stage. Enjoy!

Hey mate, wish you'd posted earlier, just spent a week (and a lot of money and decency) in Vegas.

nice set up ........will be making a similar system here at my appt. but have not got the clay medium for growing , can i substitute for gravel as used in the fishtank ?

@bobisso - I've heard the keys are that the gravel is big enough that air is allowed in (1/2-3/4 I think) and that it is as "PH-neutral" as possible. If you pour some vinegar on it and it fizzes, it's basic and will drive the PH of your water up. I'm in the process of selecting gravel for my first system now.

yep tried the local stone 6 -8mm gravel and no fizzing so i guess this will be my medium, thanks
