Here are a few photos so far:

Everything is basically working. It fills in 8 minutes and drains in 4. I need some more substrate to fill the grow bed the rest of the way. I also need to get a grounded plug adapter for the timer and to put some silicon on my bell cover to be sure it stays sealed and some kind of mesh cover for my pump while the tilapia are small so when I put them in there they don't get sucked in. Do you just make a bag/box for it out of plastic windowscreen material? Is there a better material for that? The pump (Laguna max-flo 600) has a 3/8" cage on it already, but the tilapia will easily fly through that for a few more weeks.

I still need to shorten the overflow pipe. You can't see it in the photo but there are also casters underneath the middle of the unit. When it's in place I have cinder blocks underneath for added insurance. I plan on temporarily draining it and moving the system 2 or 3 times a year when the seasons change. I think it could be done with 2 or three people. The water pipe is zip-tied in three places to make sure it stays in place. I will probably find a more elegant solution to hold down the siphon strainer than a plate full of rocks. :)

Nice work Rachel! :headbang:

The fly wire mesh should work as long as you have it on a good wire frame. Love the wheels idea, so you can move it around to catch the sun.

Keep us up-dated with how it's going.
