I used a soap mixture twice already but it only bides me some time before they explode in population AGAIN. I think the foliar spray works very well on (in my experience) small rose bushes and plants wear the aphids can't hide too much and are easy to spray. I had a similar infestation with green aphids on a quince bush and once I released the ladybugs the problem was nipped in the bud for the rest of the growing season. The problem with the tree is that it has way too many leaves and is too tall for me to get every spot especially since the black aphids cause the leaves to curl around them. I also wind up killing other soft bodied beneficial insects such as the hover fly larvae and ladybug larvae. Hopefully the slow and steady hare like pace of the ladybugs x2000 munching away at the aphids wins this race... again
