Things have been pretty dull and gloomy around here over the last few days... as a result of a lingering "depression"... due to "ex-Olga"....

Thought I'd post up some pics of a "Gigantic Gigalitre" system....

The "system" has been slowly filling for all day yesterday... and someone forgot to turn the tap off overnight...

Think the neighbours might be a bit pissed...

Here's an overview of the "system".... you can see we're using "sand" as the media...

Was obvious I needed to a bigger drainage outlet.... so called in the local "dingo" operator....

Once the "siphon" got going... it was sweet... and plenty of aeration...

Decided to incorporate a "flowform" ... for extra aeration...

And called in one of the locals to test out a "floating raft"....

I'll let it settle for a couple of hours.... and then see if I have to adjust the "flow" a bit...

And I might have to put a fence around the bloody system.... blokes coming from everywhere with their own "floating rafts"....

Obviously generating some interest though... when I nipped in for a coffee... I reckon about a 100 people had turned up to see the "system"

Nah... usually only takes about a week or two to "cycle".... unless "someone" leaves the tap on...

Should be stocked with fresh bream, flathead and prawns...

Dont you have problems with root rot in the sand? Especially with such a high 'flood' level?

I was actually thinking that perhaps some sand beds might be useful with a spider on a really long timer to say flood each sand bed like only once per day?

Love the picture story there Rupe :flower:

Come-on, Rupe! Use a timer for filling your system. Just too easy to forget otherwise and there's another million liters gone...

Wow, thats a lot of water. Here in Hawaii Waimea Bay gets a similar standing wave. We go pretty nuts over it.
