Good work...

Having suffered a poor-design induced HSM myself, instances like this really bring home the need for good contingency planning.

Remember: P.P.P.P.P.P. (and dead plants/fish!)(and wasted water/$$$!)

Well having survived a minor HSM with the water loss and our unexpected day of hot weather on Saturday my Trout are still quite happy and still hammering the feed on offer. My water temp rose as high as 22 and I was adding ice to try and keep it from getting any higher so it seemed to work.
I have added some pics below of the growth in the grow beds. the first pic was when they were planted out on 23rd Aug and the second pic was today. The bulk of this growth has been achieved only in the past 2 -3 weeks as the Nitrates started to ramp up.
Didn't have much luck with either the Pak Choi or the Bok Choi as they all bolted and went to seed.
In the beds at the moment are:
Tomatoes (Cherry & Roma), Dwarf Sweet Pea, Cauliflower, Brocli, Brussel Sprouts, Beet Root, Sweet Corn, English Spinich, Capsicum, Chillies, Lettuce, Nastusiums, Egg Plant, Sping Onions, Water Mellon.

Well I like so many others have decided to taste the fuits of our labour before the water temp makes us. We had our first AP meal tonight and it was beautiful

Trout wrapped in foil parcels and cooked whole in the hooded barbie for 45min at 200deg

We even managed some lettus, spring onion and cellery from the grow beds :D

I remembered the before photos but forgot the end product pics.

For the record the biggest was 290mm long and 280g. Averaged about 250 -260g

Hi Chillidude
I managed to keep the trout untill December and changed over to Barra from Golden Ponds. I am sure I could have kept them going longer but I was keen to get the Barra in. I purchased 20 of GP's largest fish at $8 ea to maximise the harvest size when the weather changes. I still have smaller barra left from my earlier unsuccessfull attempt at fingerlings. These will struggle to get to a decent size but we will see.

Hi MDP

Chainsaw sent me the link. Read the lot with awe. Nice system. Initially I could not work out how you joined the cross pipes with a T piece making a X piece. Your last photos explains it, where you have TWO bows joined together with one T piece on each bow facing opposite directions. Amazing what my mind was thinking in earlier photos. How did he do that? comes to mind.

I'll keep watching with interest.
