Hello Steve, I did the searches and Jicama looks so much like what we have in the Philippines. The Spanish did rule here for over 500 years so who knows what plants and seeds they brought here.

I don't plan to grow them again in aquaponics as they grow almost wild here and have no value to raise for money but they are very good, raw, fried, baked, and in soups and stews.

Like I said a am not wild about growing a plant with poision leaves and seeds in my system so that was my first and last one. But it did very well in slow flood and slow drain it grew right up out of the plastic box/growbed.

That's true Larry, many food plants and trees common in in these parts of world came from the Americas, brought in by the Spanish, Portuguese, French and English
because they couldn't be grown in Europe and their colonies in the S/E Asia were already well established.
