My hubby has set out this one, I am just doing research on it.

Basicly all we have is a 4ft tank with about 18 goldfish (going to make it a 6ft eventually) we have 4 plastic crates currently with the clay balls (150lt). we have 4 lots of different plants growing, 1 set in each container, this was mainly so our children could identify the plants better.

so far our set up has been very cheap. hubby used to work in a pet store so we had alot of what we already needed.
If this works out well I am going to large scale.

Nice start SMG, it will work, it would probably cheaper to get a small poly or corry tank than a 6' glass one, unless you already have it I suppose, I got a 2000lt corry tank for a carton of beer :drunken: scavenging is the fun part of AP my first system was under $200 but should have done it a little different, most expensive part of that system was the pump at about $70, but look forward to following progress :D

got more goldies the other day to higher the nitrate level as it was 5, now its 11. going to give it a week and hope it goes up or will get more fish. LOL
Plants are going well. Added garlic to the mix. (stupid stuff I bought to use was already growing.)
Planted a bunch of seeds in soil so when they are ready I can transplant them over as well.

No need to bother with sarting seeds in soil, just sprinkle over the GB surface and water with a watering can till they come up. Carrots, bok choy, tomatoes, melons, beans. It is too easy not too.
