Hi LKB,
Sorry re the bad luck to be in the path of all that wind.
Sink a concrete water trough into the ground for your sump. They come in all sizes and are far cheaper than making one yourself.
Check out any clearing sales in the rural areas around you for troughs.
Alex

PS PS
you can also fit a ball tap into them. Set it to open when the water level go's below your trigger point. Now you have your auto top up system. No running on dry.

Yeah tks C1...have a couple of strapping young sons who have volunteered to help me...next week-end

The big hold-up has been waiting for the back yard to dry so I could drag up some of the trees that fell over...strong winds today and another one has toppled

Les,

Do you have any decent size logs to clear ? i.e 2-3m long and 300+ diameter. If so, I'd be keen to remove them for you and mill them. I got several from the local park and from a friends place around the corner from you. My front yard is starting to look like a log dump.

Good to see the GH getting back into shape.

cheers
Derek

Yep, woodwork. I'm trying to get more experience in woodwork and milling. I'm still very much a newbie woodworker.
