I live in Texas. I want the cow to grow out and butcher. I do not really care about registered stock ect. I guess getting calf would be cheaper. I dont know if it matters if the cow is male or female.

Ideally, I could get a female and then artificially inseminate her and get a calf each year to eat and milk on the side.. For now tough I think I just want to try a single cow.

When I was a child we raised a cow and I do not remember a lot of it, but it seems like a good thing to do. Grass fed beef is over $6/pound now.

What do the belties weigh when full grown and what % of their live weigh can one expect to get in meet?

Thanks for the help!

Belties are mostly a beef breed, so you would not get very much milk from them, although a hybred would. Belties get to be 900+ for cows, and 1300+ for bulls. They usually dress out at 55-60% of live weight.
