Hi Guys
Long time no write. I've just gotten over Rambo's passing. He spent a hell of a hot day on New Years Eve and just couldn't hack it. (I Know, I know, it's Rambo, but the water was around 43 degrees.) So, no fish for amonia left me to do the only other thing I knew how to do to get amonia and even that hasnt really helped. The PVC pipes have sagged due to the hot summer and I can't have too much of a flow through them as the water gushes out from the holes at the saggy bits. Also, I hadn't anticipated the amount of roots the tomato plants would generate. They actually filled and clogged up the pipes a number of times and caused most of the water to be lost. I have had to pull the pots out of the holes and trim the roots back. Probly not a good move either. Anyways, I've harvested a few tommies, and a couple of capsicums. Not much else.

When I started this process all those months ago after listening to Steve, my father in law planted some tommies near by and said "Let's see Emir's experiment". The competitition was fierce but I'm man enough to admit that his tommies have absolutely given mine a towelling. Not to mention the cucumbers, zucchinis and watermelon (that's right folks, watermelon!!!) that's grown in half the time and to double the size of my AP plants. So, final analysis indicates that the experiment was mostly a failure. HOwever, I think that I have learnt some valuable lessons for my next project next year (We are moving house later this year so I dont have time to do it again here). I think that I will go the tub version as opposed to the pipes, (either that or get really large pipes that are reinforced so as not to sag, and bury/ insulate my fish tank to avoid poaching my fish against their will. Final lesson, DON'T get sucked in by Steve into his hair brained schemes in future. :x

Jus't joshin Stevo,
Not really!!

Emir, you join the hallowed ranks of the AP Failed First Time Society. Our motto is:
"It may be your only purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others".

But we all bounce back with a second system which eliminates the flaws in the first one! Mine is currently under construction.
