I love Alstroemeria. They are used as cut flowers quite a lot here. Maybe I will have to find some seeds if they like AP so much.

Regarding pollination of tomatoes, had an interesting chat at the vic AP meet with Shaz, a hydro grower of some 30 years. (Laurie's wife iirc.)
When the petals of the tomato have curled right up to where they meet the stem from which they originate, there will be a tiny 1mm green bit at the end of the stamen(?) This green bit is the sexual/repoductive part of the flower. If u wait until the morning dampness has gone, then tap ur flower, it will cause pollin to fall down onto this bit and booya, fertilised flower. After that mucho tomato.
Try it and see how u go.


Hi Twintragics,

I'm back after a week on holiday. Some fruit has now appeared on the two tomato vines after tapping them as you suggested so thanks for the tip above.
