Sorry I haven't contributed recently ..

The PC spat the dummy!

School is about as useful as tits on a bull in that regard despite having atate of the art computer systems. I lost my windows XP professional disc and need to completely re-install with service pack 2 and school will not give me a copy despite the fact the being a teacher I am entitled to it.

Also despite promising to take care of the fish over the holidays the workers didn't bother.

Doh!

One step forward two back!

None lost thank goodness, but a new tank is going in a better supervised classroom.

Kids keep messing with the airlines in the tanks and dustbins. - not much I can do about that .. however during holiday periods I have to catch them all and take them home. (I wonder what sort of board and lodgings I will get? Hee Hee)

I am lookinhg forward to watching Sundays programme Joel.

Teachers - go here http://www.communitywatergrants.gov.au/ - you have until the 26th of August (well - 11:59pm 25th August to be precise - yes - that's right - this month) to get a submission to Community Water Grants for up to $50,000 to set up an aquaponics system. My angle is going to be recycling water and efficient use of water with community involvement in becoming an aquaponics demonstration center running workshops to help others interested in sustainable agriculture practices getting started.

My submission is split into a number 4 main priority areas:

- Infrastructure
- Water monitoring equipment (data loggers, lap tops, digital cameras etc)
- Promotion and marketing
- Work shopping/ consultancy

You still have time if you get stuck into it.

I have done this already! I missed it last year and got ready for this year instead - if our school gets a grant then I score as the school has promised that they will lay in pipe work from the largest tank we intend to put in to my nursery and aquaponics area! :D

I would really like to discuss this with you at a later date. I am running seriously short of time atm and might defer till next year - but I am working with the NI government on this and hope to get it running. I'll be 'underground' until the 26th LOL I'll resurface then, hopefully with my submission done and in.

Here we have 2 pics of the temp system I have in my classroom... it has been constructed from scrap materials from the maintenance department and the tank is from Lifeline
