Web4deb is in CT I think. Greenhouse or indoors would be needed to do it year round seeing as being buried under 3 ft of snow would really slow even the cold loving stuff down. |

Yup. I'm in the Northeast corner of CT. I spend a small fortune keeping the greenhouse at a balmy 36 during the winter! ![]() Scan through my links below...... thanks. |

Year round growing can work here very well if you have some southern exposure and are able to get a permit for a hobby greenhouse. A passive solar greenhouse is the way to go if you are trying to keep heating costs down especially with aquaponics because of the large amount of thermal mass (water) involved. Also, all of the biological activity in an aquaponics system will create elevated levels of carbon dioxide which will increase plant growth. This will significantly make up for the short days and lack of sunshine that our region experiences from November until February. There are several good websites on-line for solar greenhouse technology or you could contact your local extension office for information. Good luck. |

I think I'm a day late and a dollar short on this thread but Jason, if you're still on the forum and have any pointers about growing in NYC let me know. I'm currently dreading the thought of cramming my fish-tanks into a new apartment. |

Hi Jules, do you have a window? Maybe just a small FT with a planter box on top of it near a window. |
