Hi Ellenbrookers I have met 2 so far here and i know we have people in the Swan Valley and Bullsbrook area. Gee i even went into our local retic shop today and he said ...have you been to that BYAP place south of the river. He is going to get a system for home most likely. Anyway I am thinking the we should/could set up a group for purchasing or just helping out. Basically any reason to get together for info or ummm homebrew tasting. Maybe convince some business here to be a sub dealer even |

Hi shaker, I was just thinking I heard there was a few Ellenbrookers doing AP and we should get a group together. Great minds think a like. As for the home brew tasting, I do that also so that sounds good too. So yeah I'm keen. Just thought I would let Ellenbrookers and other Perth north of the river members know that I just went to Lakeside Fish Farm on Sydney Road Gnangara to get some yabbies and he has just started to stock silver perch. Bit pricey, bout $3ea but it's local. He said he was going to get into some barra and trout in the near future also. He is starting to move away from his Koi and goldfish and move over to AP. He also is selling some of his own AP kits, they are a bit different. If we give him some support I'm sure we can get the prices down and end up with a decent supplier north of the river. At present he does Marron, Yabbies, Koi, Goldfish, Ponds and accessories and now some Perch and AP. FYI I'm not affiliated with Lakeside I just got excited to see something north of the river and thought I would pass on the info! It's not a hobby, it's an obsession! |

Gday Hillsy yeah it is an obsession. I nearly have my blue bin setup complete. No homebrew atm. Thinking of doing a Coopers Pale Ale soon. Seen a recipe here somewhere. I am thinking we should have a first meeting at a location that has finished their setup. So if anyone can stand the swarm put yer hand up

I don't mind a Coopers Pale Ale myself, in fact my pale ale should be ready to drink now! Just finished off a batch of Redback which turned out quite good. Anyway my system is still a work in progress like the rest of my yard but if no one else with a more mature system is willing, when I get my fish in I don't mind putting my hand up. Just have to check with the boss of course! |

Maybe convince some business here to be a sub dealer even Local Retic shop guy here, Finally registered, I am trying to source out suppliers to get what we need locally, I think we definately need a local AP club or something, I need feed back on what we need locally, If I cant supply at the shop we may be able to get together as a group and bulk purchase to get better prices too, It is always easier to order stuff in then it is to stock supply and have it sitting on a shelf waiting for someone to need it, Having this forum is handy for us to communicate and share helpful info rock on Pete |

IBC's The weighbridge in midland gets food grade ones in occasionally for bout $185. I got my better one from him that I used as my fish tank. He also has non food grade items in constant supply for $150. Stocks the blue barrels and a lot of other items that could be useful. CCR PLASCON in Kenwick is probably the biggest recyclers of IBC's in Perth. They have hundreds of them, various grades and prices. Picked up my sump tank from them food grade but not the prettiest so he gave it to me for $150 normally good quality food grade bout $250 I think. They have damaged IBC bladders without the cage for free out the front. You can take as many as you want. Only problem is that there is no way of knowing what was in them. Might make good grow beds cut down. There is a guy advertising food grade IBC's in Perth on the practical aquaponics website forum in the for sale section. Ad is a couple of weeks old but said he had a couple and could deliver to Ellenbrook. I spent a lot of time searching and went with all food grade items but other people on the other forums have used anything they could get there hands on with out fish deaths. Guess its just whether you want to risk it or not. Hope this helps! Like I said, its an obsession! |

Hi Pete, Good to see you joined in the AP madness. I was in your shop chatting to you bout it the other week and left part of my pump behind. Plumbing has been one of the biggest cost in my system and you have it covered. Saved a heap when I stopped going to Bunnings and made it to your shop the other week. Prob only thing I can think extra you could stock/supply is air pumps and/or some sort of a 12VDC back up pump. Defiantly sounds like there is enough of us local to start our own AP group/club in Ellenbrook and surrounding areas. If we can get local businesses like Pete and Lakeside Fish Farm onside it can only workout better for all of us. |

Air pumps I can order in, I can get all sorts come in and I can go through the book and price em up, they do recommend quality, If you go cheap I can just order in loads of spare diaphrams but I lost fish in my Aquarium from an air pump blowing diaphram within 24hrs, 12 volt bilge pumps for back up price em out at bcf and let me know, I have a m8 that is a sparkey, I'm gonna talk to him about the back up relay switches and find out how much we could make em for too, I can get stones as well. Another business local I went to on Sun, is only open from thurs - sun is swan valley fish and lily, He is a koi and goldfish supplier, but his range of pumps is huge, he stocks heaps and his prices I can't compete with yet but will work on, He is currently retailing them at our wholesale price, worth checkin out. |
