Hiya,

I'm thinking about starting up a small system here in Seattle, WA. I wanted to know if there was anyone on this forum with experience in the northwest US. You folks out there?

little_froggi (Seattle, I think)

You could probably do searches for cities near you....Seattle, Tacoma, Vancouver. I know there are some others in WA and one in Vancouver, I think.

I'm going to be moving to Blaine, right by Vancouver. I'm newer than you though so I'll probably be asking you for tips.

I was just out there a week or so ago. The weather was such a nice break from this Texas heat! Depending on the side of town you are on, you could probably run trout year round. I'm not sure the traffic though is a fare trade for the weather...I would rather drive in Houston or even L.A. any day then Seattle!

I am just outside of Spokane, WA. I am researching right now. I have done HP for a few months and like it but AP sounds much more organic. Trout do sound like they would be cheaper to raise with our lack of heat much of the year.

just outside of Yakima. Have been doing hp tomatoes and cucumbers (ok a bunch of other stuff too) and have always wanted to dabble in aquaponics. I have a 13000 gallon koi pond, but have goldfish in the greenhouse.

I will lurk and learn and decide what might work for us

I'm in Seattle and will be starting up a system soon. I think trout will work year round, or any of the other native fish we have around here, bluegill, carp, perch, etc, and being from the east side of the state, I know we have native crawfish out there that I'm sure would do fine.

I'm thinking of starting off with smaller, more modular systems as I live in the city, and go from there. I'd love to see what folks are growing in the area!

Welcome Dajalme, trout were my first fish and I highly recommend them. Trout time here is only 6 months but well worth it and just about to start here :)

I'm in CA but we'll be showing our system at the Mother Earth News Fair in Puyallup first weekend in June.
I hope you can stop by and say hi.

I just registered for this forum and am very new to AP, but my wife and I are diving in so to speak! :wave1: We are up on the Olympic Peninsula in Port Angeles Washington which isn't too far from Seattle. Can't wait to read more of the group and sponge up all the great info! Nice to meet you folks!
