If your living in the A.C.T. and would like to possibly speak with others in your area, please reply to this post, and give people an idea of where you are (no exact details, town or postcode perhaps) and whether or not you have an aquaponic system. :)

Unfortunately I live in a share house rental, so I'm hoping the 'rents will give me some backyard to play with.... my brother is a Marine Biologist by trade, so he should come in handy and be able to put some pressure on Mum to let me do it....

Hey that sounds cool. I hope you get to play around with it.

Mine is coming along really slowly.. there's so much other stuff to do as well!!! Always something to do.. :P

That's awesome that your bro is a Marine Biologist! (I wanted to be one when I was younger, but there was too much chemistry & even physics & maths needed to get in for my liking... heheh I'm much more a creative person, than a scientific one.)

Let us know how you go! Start up a new thread when you get a chance!

Good luck & fingers crossed!!!!

Hi Guys and Gals,
I have been into the backyard aquaponics scene since 1999 but far too busy to party. Located now in Belconnen I have just wound back all my home systems in preparation for going commercial. Am in final negotiations on a property in the region on which I will be establishing an Aquaponic Resource Centre. Eventually containing a 100,000L 10 Tank growout, 6000L 6 tank nursery system, 5000L purge tank. Linked to this is 4 x 300m2 tunnel houses containing a range of hydro systems including gravel bed, float and NFT channel systems - in addition to this, the residual waste water from the aquaculture system will be used to drip irrigate biodynamic flower and vegetable beds and orchard. The bulk of the equipment has been acquired and we will be entering initial construction phase within weeks. We plan to be growing by September 07. I am interested in making contact with other Aquaponicers located within 1 hour of Canberra. I am establishing this centre as a not for profit community training facility supported by SWARM - the Solomon Waters Aquaponic Rehabilitation and Mentoring Association Incorporated of which I am also the current President. Please feel free to email me should you require further information about the activities of the Association or this exciting new project taking place in Canberra.urbanaquaman@swarm.org.au

Hey Mr Urban,

welcome! Sounds like a big adventure you are embarking on! Best of luck and feel free to start your own thread here and keep us up to date on your progress. We don't have any commercial aquaponicers amongst us yet, but will have soon, and it will be very interesting to compare and learn from all and sundry.
