If your living in South Australia and would like to possibly speak with others in your area, please reply to this post, and give people an idea of where you are (no exact details, town or postcode perhaps) and whether or not you have an aquaponic system. |

I'm near Owen, on the Adelaide Plains about 80 km N of Adelaide. My first mini-system is still in the scrounging stage - 1 bathtub, 2 x 20 litre recycling bins for growbeds, still hunting through junk collection for a fountain pump that works, and sourcing fish. I've got my copy of Joel's book + DVD etc. and all I need is adequate time to attend to the system. Work and house building interfering considerably with progress. Wouldn't mind the chance to have a beer with Monya sometime, and anyone else within visiting distance. |

Hey Big Mick, and others in local area. Beer's always cold here! And anyone who will listen to my aqua rantings is always welcome. |

I'm in Hallett Cove. No system yet, but got a good idea of what I'm going to do. Have completed stage 1 (i.e. convinced the wife that life would not be complete unless we have an aquaponics system in the backyard) and stage 2 (got her to buy the book for me as an investment into our future, and for fathers day). Stage 3 will be to put my drawings on the forum soon to get my ideas critiqued. About to start to scrounging parts. David |

I am down in the South East, a couple of hours out of the big smoke. Don't have a system yet, only a couple of busted 1000L drums (hopefully able to salvage them) and 2 pumps. Need some local gravel and make some stands. The plan is to then to use feeder fish to start the system cycling and get some plants going, hopefully some "real" fish and yabbies later. Nova |

Soon to be in Hawthorndene (Adelaide). Just bought a house there with a large shed and enough room for a reasonable greenhouse (3x6M) Anyone know of a good food supplier in Adelaide (I'm planning on catfish at the moment) and don't really want to buy dinky size cups of fish food from the pet shops E2 |

try soladome E2 they're at Norwood. Otherwise, not sure. I got my barra food from the hatchery, but they don't sell it as a rule. Where you gonna get your catties from? May be they could supply you with some food |

I'm thinking of getting them from AusyFish, although the timing may be bad because it'll be at least End of December before I have my tanks/beds done and they can deliver in December |

HG LOL. How much did they cost? Also is it SolaDome who sometimes buy them back when they're bigger (vague memories of something read somewhere) I'm planning on a 5000 litre tank (100 fish to start) + matching growbeds (my partner who controls our funds likes the idea of growing as much of our own food as possible) + chickens (not in lifebelts, they'll have their own run |

monya wrote: soladome say they will buy fish back off you Been in touch with Ausyfish and they may still have some catfish in Feb, which is when I plan to have everything ready; but when I sent the average temp.s for Hawthordene. The very helpful people at the other end responded with "Brrrr, that's bloody cold mate" and very strongly suggested I look at some form of heating pretty quick. So off I go to price solar pool heaters and insulation
