Anyone heard of these guys and project???

Quote:
AQUAPONICS WORK
Independent researchers Dr Neil Griffiths and Andrew Dezsery have established an aquaponics farm at Lewiston. The operation produces a variety of salad vegetables and herbs grown using the waste products from a fish farm. Currently the pilot commercial project comprises approximately 200 square metres supporting eight species of lettuce, basil and bok choy. The nutrient is delivered via a system which is part of the fish farm reticulation. There are numerous advantages to an aquaponics system, including much lower water usage, better vegetable shelf life, and no chemical use, meaning products are organic. In the research and development stage the researchers hope determine to which of 52 fish species prove most appropriate to grow with different plant species. The work has implications for establishment of aquaponic farms in Australia beyond Goyders Line, and in third-world countries.

Yep, that is KE14's friend. Andrew is a aquaculture lecturer and consultant from memory and has an aquaculture business. He came to my last AP seminar (to learn from the experts I assume ) there was mention of an AP farm north of Adelaide...

I was hoping that these guy would come to our recent AP meet here but they were both busy on the day. I've asked Andrew if we can organise a group tour later in the year. Anyone interested?

Think it has been deliberately walled off to maintain a constant environment... note the reverse cycle aircon on the end...

And TT... they look to be using about the same sized pots I PM'd you about.

They look similar to EB's stuff, well almost identical to his low height 1000L tanks. What volume do you guys think they are?

It looks like a nice fancy freight/shipping container that they are in too....

Just an update:
http://issuu.com/plainsproducer/docs/090129/6

and:
http://www.1aquaponics.com.au/

Sounds like they are about to start developing a 1500 sq m "integrated farm". From what I can gather the aquaponics will be used to grow fish and greens, and the greens will then be fed to meat rabbits. I will be very interested to know what quantity of feed / energy / water inputs go into the system, and what fish & meat yields come out. This is very exciting.

Did the tour materialise last year, and would anyone be keen for another one this year? I'd really love to see this place!
