Hello from San Bruno, haven't started my system yet, but scored 2 plastic 55 gal barrels from a local car wash, going to clean them out, any suggestions on other equipment besides the plumbing and pumps? And I was thinking starting with some goldfish first to cycle and get my feet wet before starting with "edible" fish. |

Goldfish is always a good place to start. Be sure to clean the shit out of those barrels especially if they aren't food grade; I think most people would avoid barrels that aren't food grade if possible. I think starting with goldfish is a good call, I made the same choice, and they are some serious survivors. If you draw up a design of your system beforehand, I think people in this forum can offer more valuable insight. Good luck with your system! Be sure to take pictures along the way! |
