I have a CHIFT PIST system with a 330gal FT and 330gal Sump tank. I need to move more water for longer periods of time. I have worn out several fountain/waterfall pumps and am now finding that my submersible 1200gal/hour pump is not adequate. The bottom of the sump is 4ft deep the top of the FT is 4ft high so the pump must lift the water a total of 8 feet. I cannot find any examples of anyone using a swimming pool pump. I know it moves more water faster than what I need but I have a timer that I can put it on. Does anyone have any drawings/photos of a swimming pool pump implementation with its plumbing. Thanks to all

you should only need to pump from surface to surface. your head is about 4 feet. i would like to know which pumps you have used exactly and for what length of time as well as what quality of water you were pumping. (are you pumping crystal clear water or thick mud?) hehe. i have a cheap harbor freight sump pump with float switch that is lasting the test of time. i even used it to empty my swampy 28k gallon swimming pool and its still truckin! |

There is a reason you don't see swimming pool pumps used around here. They are horribly expensive to run, check out the wattage on them, and calculate how much it'll cost to run. My pump runs on 80 watts, a 1.5 horsepower pool pump is around the 2000 watts mark. Get yourself a decent submersible pump, the cheapies will die. Have a look at the pump recommendation threads, they'll have plenty of options in there. |

Depends on your setup this pump here [28000litres per hr ] Runs approx. 6 min on 54 min off for 10 years no problem Still going strong Agreed the new range of modern pumps are good I have had 2 running at this place for 5 years |
