This is our first system and no doubt won't be the last. We've got plans for a pretty big expansion next spring. For now it's a full tote fish tank, half tote sump, two grow beds. Cold frame made from PVC, 2bys, cheap drop cloth, and bubblewrap I got free off Craigslist. Pump in sump, overflow from fishtank leading to beds, bell siphon flood drain. Using bass for lack of anything else but will switch over to catfish and tilapia.
This is from when it was about 2 weeks old. We've made a few mods since then; switching from 2 pumps to 1+overflow, raising second grow bed, rerouting faucets on bed to allow for cold frame addition, cold frame.
I took a video of it this morning to see how it was handling the below zero temps and snow. So far looking good.
