We are thinking of going to Alaska. Has anyone ran a successful system in Alaska?

A very short season, and will need some good heaters for the greenhouse in the Winter. Maybe best just to do seasonal. I lived there for about 7 years(Anchorage area) and you get some fantastic growth during the Summer months. 19 hours of sun and good soil can create some impressive growth. I can only imagine that would be even better in an AP system.

Here's someone in Homer, AK that I talked with recently. She's got a pretty sweet greenhouse going.

The Aquaponic Source Forum has a member map where you can find people too.

I am doing a 22x36 aquaponic greenhouse in Homer as Jeremiah mentioned. I am really well insulated and we have natural gas. There are several people up in Palmer/Wasilla area doing indoor systems with lights that provide them with personal use greens all winter. Even in the summer most places would be difficult to do one outside because it is not consistently warm enough to get good bacterial growth. There is a lot of interest up here but I think I am the only person doing larger scale at this point.
