Happy New Year to all.

I have been based in Malaysia but now looking a maybe move to southern Europe.

I have been reseaching Aquaponics - about time to try it out practically.

I would very much like to try using Tilapia as my fish stock in southern Spain.

Problem is that as I understand it water temperatures for Tilapia have to ideally be at circa 75F - 23C?? for a reasonable growth rate.

Plus anything below 45F - 8C at very lowest for Blue Tilapi and generally 52 to 62 °F (11 to 17 °C) for other types they will not survive.

Is anyone aware of anyone who has managed to keep water temperatures up to a suitable level by using insulation techniques plus possibly the additional use of Solar Panel heating during low temperature months.

I was thinking something along the lines of heating water in a large reservoir'outside' the circulating system to act as a heat reservoir particularly during night times.

Seems to me the only way it could be done economically.

I certainly have the 'know how' to set up such a system in principal.
