Hello from Macau! I am a gweilo transplant from Canada, just lucked into an apartment that came with an outdoor koi pond and lots of room for gardening. I'm in the planning stages of my (first ever!) aquaponics system, but I need help sourcing stuff since I don't speak Cantonese or read Chinese and there aren't many here in tiny Macau that speak enough English AND know enough about aquaponics/fish filters to help me.

I need a TaoBao buddy! Let me know if you've been down this road and have advice, or even better, can help me navigate TaoBao to order the things I need.

There is plenty of ideas on how to build things on here, and if you can buy bits, then you are set to go..

I assume you plan to use the Koi Pond as your Fish Tank... no reason why not.. just need protections to ensure you don't pump too far...

And you can buy stuff on Alibaba/Aliexpress..

I am fairly handy and up for some challenges, and I have a helper I met online who will help with the building and set up, but I need to be explicit to him with my instructions, and he cannot help me source things that are not available in Macau. I have located a suitable grow bed on TaoBao (I had previously tried aliexpress but couldn't get the right search terms I guess??) and pipes and fittings my buddy will be able to get I'm sure, so I just need to get grow bed media, which is available here, but my challenge now is figuring out what the media is, is it suitable, how much does it weigh/volume and the cost. I'll be working on that this week. In the mean time I'm sprouting leafy greens and herbs to float on top of the pond for a bit of DWC.

Deuem appears to have recently departed - he was active for a while.
