Probably a good idea. I'm just guessing but I figure your water temp is around 80 F. Don't add water that is higher in pH or temp than your system water since this could bring ammonia toxicity levels into play. Also remember that changing out water will lower your salt levels

I added about five gallons of water of water to the system, and following Joc's suggestion, I included about 100 grams of non-iodized sea salt (or was it kosher salt? It was a rough weekend all around) to the water.

I tested nitrite again yesterday, doing a 1:1 dilution, and found that the level was at about 8 PPM. At least now I have a better baseline.

I also tested nitrates, and they looked like they were starting to climb, but they still didn't make it to the next color on my test, at around 5 PPM. So somewhere between 0 PPM and 2 PPM, I'd say.

I kind of feel badly about all those little feeder goldfish that didn't make it. I've still got a couple of hardy survivors in there for the moment, and I've not fed them for several days at this point. I bet they'll have some stories to tell new fish, once they arrive :headbang:

Wicker make sure you fish out all the dead ones...one left lurking will not help the water quality ... I learned that the hard way with my small system.
