Santi, I'm near Montgomery with a still cycling system. I just used pea gravel from Lowe's, HD or wherever.

yeah thanks folks. yeah my first system actually has driveway rocks that i picked out of my back yard, bucketed, sifted and rinsed. but it all weighs a ton and was alot of work. So i was hoping the hydroton or something was lighter. my current gb is collapsing under the weight of it all. Thanks for the help.

A 45-50 litre bag of dry hydroton weighs about 20 kilograms.

Hi everyone! I've just joined the forum, glad to see other people in Alabama on here! At first it looked like I maybe joined an Australian forum by mistake. :-)

In Birmingham, AL, just starting a system or project. There is a Hydroponics store in Pelham (small strip mall - forget the name). Nice guy that operates it and they do sell the clay media.
