Here's the materials for what is going to be a massive system in the southern outskirts of Perth. Those fish tanks are 20000L each and I'm told the whole system once completed will comprise some 150000L of water. It should be up and running by Spring if everything all goes to plan.

So big they need a boat ! Thay really have thought of everything.

Is that to tow the net around to catch the fish? :D

So many systems.....

I'm wondering who the person is with the 9 beds, they must have been in here a few times, I'd probably recognise them I would guess.. So many times you see gear go out yet you have no idea what people might do with it, what they will turn it into.

Here's an interesting swimming pool set up. The pool has pretty much been taken over with water chestnut and other plants but an area at the deep end was cleared of plants and two plastic mesh cages are stocked with 50 trout each. Swimming free range in the pool (under the plants) are about 80 large Silver Perch and a self sustaining population of Marron. The small tank at the end holds Silver Perch fingerlings which will be moved into the pool once they are large enough to not fit thru the mesh of the trout cages.

Very interesting! Is this the one you were telling me about when you delivered our perch fingerlings? It looks very well established.

No grow beds yet but plans are to incorporate some down the track a bit. Yeah the black barrel is a bio filter and also provides the only aeration to the pool.

Yes this is the one. Yeah the plants have been in there for years and when I first visited about 4 yrs ago there was no visible water it was all completely covered over by the plants!

That would have been quite, a job pulling out such established plants! Is that one outlet enough oxygenation for trout, or do the plants also help? When we have let our small fish ponds get a bit too thick with plants they seem to have gone stagnant very easily.

Hey TM, the plants in the second photo appear to be Water Hyacinth! This is a declared toxic and noxious weed. Please get them to google search info. They have a georgous purple /blue flower and seed remains viable for 15 YEARS
PS Our 12 trout are going GR8!!!

Yeah he is already aware of that but it does a great job of keeping the water clean and I think he feeds it to his sheep or chickens or something. His not near any waterways so there is no chance of it spreading.
