Holy Sh!t Moment or Holy Sh!t Mode Basically meaning something going wrong or almost going wrong that sets us into overdrive trying to save the fish or the rush of disappointment when one sees that something has gone so wrong that most of the fish are already dead and now must figure out why!!!!! Or what went wrong. Most common situations are something draining the tank or overflowing the system or power going out or forgetting to plug the pump back in after messing with stuff. |

um well... I guess. It depends on how much you bend language. Quote: 1784, from Skt. avatarana "descent" (of a deity to the earth in incarnate form), from ava- "down" + base of tarati "(he) crosses over." initially used to mean an incarnation of a god. massaged to mean an incarnation on the internet, a visual representation commonly accepted to be a still image, but can also be used in such roleplaying games where a person is visually rendered in 3D. Hence the movie Avatar, his Navi self represented his 'crossing over' or perhaps even that the "Yanks"** considered themselves gods. So. in short I'm just saying that an animated gif, akin to a short video clip, would have to twist the language a bit to be called an avatar. As it's an animated gif, it could be assigned in place of where an avatar would usually sit, but I'd still argue the point Rant over. Sorry I didn't mean to do this, but you baited me **please not they acted like, sounded like etc American troops as we see them on TV, I know they weren't actually American. |

I think your "drawing a long bow" to quote from 1784 when we are talking 2010 internet pop culture and terminology.. Someones online avatar can pretty much consist of anything animated or still, scene captures from television or movies, it's all out there and people are doing it. But if you want to tell them they are not avatars, but rather animated gifs assigned a place of where an avatar would usually sit. You go right ahead..... I like to keep you on your toes KP, someone has to fix my stuff ups, or at least tell me about them.... |
