Thanks in advance for any advice I can get as I attempt to combine 2 of my hobbies... Beginning questions: 1. Is there a surface area ratio of water to planting media that should be maintained? 2. I am located in San Diego, CA. Do tilapia grow well all year long? Do I need to be careful about water temperatures? That's all for now! Thanks |

Jeff, I'll help you with #2. My tilapia lasted most the way through January last year before they could no longer take the cold. I got a late stat with them so I was never able to harvest prior to them basically freezing to death. This year I got them right away and most of them are ready to harvest. Unless you plan to heat your water, (which I decided against) you will not be able to keep them year round in San Diego. |
