We're in our first week of water cycling. Here's the numbers. Date Time PH Ammonia Nitrite Nitrate 5/4/2014 1630 7 0.25 0 0 5/5/2014 1900 7 1 0 0 5/9/2014 1400 7.6 1 0 0 FT: 700L GB: 300L Sump: 300L 10 small goldfish are in the tank, happily swimming around, and seeds are starting to germinate. Our system thread is here. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=21488 Is it normal to see the PH spike? Thanks. |

Ammonia forms alkaline NH4OH (Ammonium Hydroxide) when added to water, so yes, it is normal. |

It's meant to go down when the cycle starts, but leave it and see what happens for a week. Could be things sorting them selves out, or your media has some lime in it? |

Cool. Thanks for the replies. I will be patient. Good news is that we have 20 trout on order. 6 inch for 1.00 USD each. |
