So i've picked up a cheap IBC which contained organic salts and urea as a cleaning product, after finding the data sheet for the product it said it is 100% water soluble and low risk which leads me to believe with a good thorough wash it will be OK, and the guy selling them has had people use them for fish tanks before (i assume AP systems)

I'm also planning to use large pea gravel in the grow bed, as clay media appears to be quite expensive, in fact it looks to be the most expensive part of the system all together. I've read about people on here using blue stone etc, will pea gravel have much the same outcome?

Thanks, any comments, tips or ideas is useful.

Perth pea gravel works great. But it is heavy and you need sturdy beds.
