I recently stocked a new 200 gal cycled IBC with an assortment of Tilapia from a local home operation. There are 2 large - nearly table size fish, several about 8", about 10 5-6 inchers, lots of 2-3 inchers and also many1 inch and under. I bought 30, but he told me there were more than that. My question is whether I need to separate them - they were certainly sharing space in his backyard pond. The little ones seem the most active, coming up to nibble at pellets, even though I am also sprinkling ground meal as well. I never see the largest ones come up at all to feed, but the pellets do sink after a few minutes. I thought of placing a mesh laundry bag type of "cage" into the big tank if I need to separate them. I don't really relish trying to capture them to separate. I have no idea if there will be any breeding going on, I assume there will, but have no clue how to deal with that. Help! |
