Greetings all! I am new to aquaponics and have built an IBC system in my garage. I was trying to do some research on adding PVC tubes for lettuce, but was having trouble finding information. So i guess i am wondering where i might find information on sizing tubes for lettuce, and how many tubes/plants would be supported comfortably by a single IBC setup like mine. Thank you in advance! |

I'm not a big fan of PVC pipes... but a lot of people use them and they seem to work... Question is.. do you intend to just use them as a shallow DWC... or media filled... I'm definitely not a fan of the latter.... For lettuce... use a 200mm centre spacing... You will need to pre-filter your water through some form of solids filter before going to the pipes... (grow bed, radial flow etc)... Probably best to pump to the pipes from the sump... split fish tank/pipes... How many plants can you support off a single IBC system.... quite a few...  Here's an IBC/SLO system.. feeding two grow beds... to sump... to NFT (600 plants)... and to fish tank... Yeah, I know they're old photos... but it'll give the poster the idea...
