I want to use a 1000L of water for my tank, can someone please confirm the size in square feet that I should make the GB if I is 1'-0" deep.

How many fish should be in that tank.

The answer to this "length of string" question lies in how much much water you are willing to pump out of the 1000L tank, if you're going to employ a sump or not, the type of media and its water holding capacity etc... Draw a plan, do the maths, search the forum... then post questions.

A gravel:water ratio of 1:1 is widely used... so a GB (or GB's) with dimensions capable of holding 1000L of gravel at 300mm (1'0") depth.

A gravel:water ratio anywhere between 2:1 (2000L gravel:1000L water) and a low of about 0.6:1 (600L gravel:1000L water) will work fine... just remember to stock fish in ratio to the gravel, not the water.

I'm running around 20 sq foot with 10 - 20 fish, which seems to work well.
