Post subject:  Baramundi & Aquaponics

My family is new to Aquaponics but have a 1000L tank with a grow bed on top which we have had a pump watering the grow bed on top for the past 4 weeks allowing the stones to produce algae ( for 6 weeks before adding baramundi we've been told) & our lettuce seem to be growing great.
We are at the stage now of testing our water for ph, nitrite & nitrate. We've been told Barra like ph around 7.5 but am unsure of best nitrite & nitrate levels for barra & any other inbalances to keep an eye out for & what to use to lift & lower each of these levels. (sorry very new/ green at all of this). I am keen to see this work smoothly & so am happy for any hints or directions anyone would like to offer including where to purchase barramundi fingerlings in far north Queensland & the best food to feed them at each of their growing stages.

Welcome Colin :wave1:

Great to have another AP nut aboard!

Fish can handle quite a broad PH range, usually the the range we get in AP systems are quite fine with most species of fresh water creatures so dont be too focussed on that right now.

There is a lot of quick link info sections within the forum to get your head around water testing and what it means. Try the 'basics' section from the forum board or there is the 'IBCof Aquaponics' link at the top of the screen which is really handy.
