This is one of the most used low cost media options. Please do a search for "scoria" or " red scoria" on the forum search, it's features, advantages/disadvantages, and safety have been discussed here at length. |

I have red lava rock in the bottom half of my beds, then river rock on top (easier to work with). |

Will depend on the source of the scoria and how big the average diameter is I reckon. How big a bag? roughly 900kg/m3 for our local stuff @20mm |

1 bag is .5 m3 but the size is not on it the bag. it's earthessentials by quickcrete at lowes. |

That's close enough, figuring the strength the stand needs to be so, 30lbs X 23 bags = 720lbs ish and 12m3 media |
