My aquaponics system got flooded as a result of heavy rain, that is dirty water entered the fish tanks, since then the plants have not been growing well, can someone please tell me what the best solution would be. I myself guess that it would be taking out the stones from the growbed and cleaning them,if this is the case, what would be the best way to clean the stones?,would just using water be ok to clean them?your help would be much appreciated, thanks. |

I'm not sure why you want to clean the stones in the growbed? Why do you think the plants aren't growing well, because your stones are dirty? |

Just continue to run the system it will clean itself up. Just the same as some people don't wash gravel and system cleans up. If you operate with bell siphon then remove the siphon and let it operate as constant flood, otherwise the siphon sucks the fines back into the FT. |

Wish I had read chainsaw's post before I set out to wash half a ton of gravel last night... Washing dirt off of stuff on dirt doesn't work so hot. BTW, anyone know a good way of removing a quarter ton of gravel from the mud next to my grow bed? |
