Referring to a single IBC GB over FT setup. I have zinc steel straps and galvanised steel box pipe to support the growbed. This is all sitting just above the FT. Will I need to paint it all ? I guess aeration etc will mean water is getting splashed onto the steel work.... |

Does anyone have exposed IBC frame above the fishtank ? If so any problems with fish health ? |

My IBC grow bed bottoms have always been exposed to FT and the water splashing often sees them wet and dripping into FT, not probs to date. |

I just bought the steel so I'm hoping someone comments soon I'm just way too excited to get the gravel into the GB (and don't really want to take it out again if I make the wrong decision) |

Ooops, missed this... No, don;t worry about it, I have water running over the side of my galv growbed back into the fish tank constantly. Been doing it for years without any problems.. |

Thats ok I ended up painting my gal boxpipe, but didn't bother with some gal builders strap suporting the GB. So maybe it's just people with gal tanks and larger surface areas that have zinc issues ? |

So having gal in contact with water is ok? Reading through this thread, most responses to gal & water were not supportive. |

Hi junkie In the mentioned link, they had galv mesh actually immersed in the fish tank, this is not a good idea as it would contaminate in time as it breaks down, but superveg is talking about situations where rain or the fish tank water would drip/splash or run off it from time to time which would be insignificant. |
