Hey Stuart and all!

Hope this thread is still "open/alive"!

Question: Would you know how a venturi (to draw in air) would affect the head of the system?

Referring to your drawings in your 1st post:

What if I insert a venturi anywhere along the pressure line or to make it easier (lower pressure) - what if I insert a venturi on the top horizontal line?

Will the heads still be the same as depicted or will they essentially change to "pic. 3" ??

Obviously - pic.3 is not a venturi - so a more detailed question would be - what happens if I change pic.3 to a venturi??

[My goal is to - eventually - have a system, without air-supply. Air would only be for FT-emergency-survival. Operational air should be drawn in by the waterflow from the pump, hopefully without performance losses....]

Cheers,

......just read in one of your other threads, that a venturi will throw off all calculations.
SO how about incorporating the venturi on the last DOWN portion of the piping? .....should have less impact overall.

Also - would you know how much less head (%) a laminar flow would generate vs. turbulent flow?

[I just about found all info on that, but it seems I get stuck on that last bit! If laminar doesn't save a good deal, then it might not be so important after all - but my guess is, there is a lot to save]

How to save slow/laminar flow and still be able to use a venturi?? Use oversize tubing all the way to the tank and then reduce to a fairly small size on the last few feet!
