Can you create a small profitable aquaponics system and what edible seafood can I grow?

Depends on what you consider profitable and I don't think there is any seafood you can grow in AP as it is predominately fresh water.

well it may be possible if you live near the shore and has access to fish water fishes

Some crabs and shrimp/prawns can live in freshwater and there are types that are fw only. The prawns I can catch in rivers are better than shrimp from the sea.

Aquaponics is mainly a fresh water culture system that grows fresh water fishes and crustaceans as well as veggies on top.

We talked before about some sea prawns that grow in the fresh water first and migrate to ocean later on but it would be hard to cultivate them in aquaponics system.

Plus with salt water, you can't grow veggies but may be potatoes. Dutch made an experiment before to grow potatoes in salty conditions and they were successfull.

By all means try and experiment with it. You may need a large bio-filter and you need to make a decision on what fish to grow either for eating or aquarium purposes. After all there are salty water aquarium enthuisiast everywhere who keep salt water aquariums and fish. You might want to start with the requriements of salt water aquariums. Even if you grow seaweed only, that is a good fertilizer for the soil garden.
