what is the benefit or bacteria in the Aquaponic system ?

I guess that you are new to the forum, otherwise you would see that every second thread is vaguely or directly connected to bacteria, or lack there of..

basically any aquarium / pond / aquaponics basically needs a waste treatment since the waste product from decomposition and animals is ammonia which is toxic to many fish etc. The bacteria convert the ammonia to nitrates which are then accessible as a food for plants and vegetation. Incidently the same thing happens in the soil of a garden.
