I was asked to remove a very large hot tub becuase the owner didn't want it or have the equipment to remove it himself and decided to salvage the parts of it for aquaponic use, After removing all the parts I could I ended up with 2 huge pump a smaller circulation pump a Air Blower and a ozone generator and a heater. both pumps are equipped with a sticker that tells you all the info however it does not tell you the GPH oddly enough. Can some body help me with this?ImageImage
I believe these are huge pumps.
They weigh around 40 pounds each and are connected with 1 1/2 pipe

It'd cost a fortune to run 24/7, and I don't think those pumps are designed for continual use.

But if you want to know, put a 10L bucket under the outlet, and time how long it takes to fill up, then from that you can figure out how much it can pump.

At 2.8kW, it is ridiculously oversized for a backyard system, most get by with about 1/20 of that energy use for water circulation

What if I used a automatic timer to turn on and off? How much would it cost to run 20$ A month?

Lots.

Not a suitable pump except for maybe a rather large system but I doubt it.

Just to give you a rough (usage rates change, the draw will change, so rough) ballpark figure on how much it'd cost, going by Adelaide electricity rates.

It's a 2880 Watt pump. If it's running 24/7, it'll cost you $23.50 a day to run, over a year, it'll cost you $8577.50. If you run it for 15 minutes each hour, it'll still cost you $3430 per year

For comparison, my 60 watt pump, that pushes 8000lph will cost about $170 per year (cheaper, there are different rates for on and off peak, but you get the idea).
