We're in our first week of water cycling. Here's the numbers.

Date Time PH Ammonia Nitrite Nitrate
5/4/2014 1630 7 0.25 0 0
5/5/2014 1900 7 1 0 0
5/9/2014 1400 7.6 1 0 0

FT: 700L
GB: 300L
Sump: 300L

10 small goldfish are in the tank, happily swimming around, and seeds are starting to germinate.

Our system thread is here.

Is it normal to see the PH spike?

Thanks.

Ammonia forms alkaline NH4OH (Ammonium Hydroxide) when added to water, so yes, it is normal.

It's meant to go down when the cycle starts, but leave it and see what happens for a week. Could be things sorting them selves out, or your media has some lime in it?

Cool. Thanks for the replies.

I will be patient. Good news is that we have 20 trout on order. 6 inch for 1.00 USD each.
