I was wondering if this would be viable. If a system runs high constantly could you use a bundle of pine straw in a "Tea Bag" set up to lower it. I know ground that is constantly covered with pine straw usually runs a lower PH. Anyone know how the fish would handle it.

I don't have this problem but considering the 500 billion pine trees in NC I would like to fine a use for the crap that falls in my yard.

Also I have heard of Oak leaves used this way to raise PH. But I would like to double check.

I started poking around some Pond forums and have come to the conclusion that it is possible and non toxic to fish. I may use this in the future.

Wow, this is something new. Don't know about pinestraw, but I can confirm the use of drift wood to have the same effect though.

You need to be caution never attempt to increase or decrease your fish tank ph drastically. This really stresses the fish and could very well kill them. I would get fish that are suitable with your water oh rather than adjusting your water ph to suit the fish.
