Well moderated I must say.

I am new to the aquaponics as well. I currently have 2 ducks and am looking into getting more. Can I use them and their pond water somehow in the aquaponics method?

Ducks are not recommended for systems where you intend to eat any of the fish or vegetables. Salmonella is a real threat. They are good for systems where useful non-edible plants are grown.

Thank you, I will have to experiment with non-edible plants for their pond. Then keep a separate system for the vegetables.

I downloaded the IBC of Aquaponics are there any other good books for beginners here. I do not always have regular internet access. This limits the amount of information I can read about through the forums.

I have a huge backyard deck my chickens don't have access to which gets plenty of sunlight for the majority of the day. Being I live in Southeast Texas would it be a good idea to get one of those shade screen nets to put above the system to keep everything from getting to much sun. Example, parts of my traditional garden which receive about the same about of sunlight now are starting to wither because of the heat and sun despite being thoroughly watered each evening around dusk.
