There is a video on youtube of someone growing them together. He mostly has all mature full size tilapia in a large tank with a few catfish. He mentioned that the cats are really in their for population control of the tilapia.
Also this can only be limited to the warm season as tilpapia are tropical fish. The cats can tolerate much colder water than the tilapia.
